The good news is if you ask the right questions, you can use the interview process to help find a candidate that can flourish in your company.
Interview Questions for Company Culture
Use these questions during the interview to determine if a candidate will fit well within your company culture.
- What type of work environment do you prefer?
- What do you expect of your supervisor?
- Did you enjoy the company culture at your last job? Why/why not?
- Tell us about your best boss and your worst boss?
- How do you handle stress and pressure at work?
- Do you prefer to work alone or in a group?
These questions help determine how the candidate works under stress, with supervisors and with others. Plus, you will also discuss some “light” topics related to company culture to help you determine whether or not they will be a good fit.
A Different Type of Interview
The questions above are great for determining if candidates will fit within your company, but there is more you can do. Consider bringing other workers into the interview process if you have interest in a candidate. Other supervisors or even potential co-workers can ask questions that pertain more to day-to-day responsibilities. Meeting with more workers allows for more opinions on how well they would fit within company culture. However, you should assign greater value to the opinions of those in a hiring position than those who aren’t.
